ATTEND TEDxNewAlbany 2017
How to prepare: Dress is business casual. The event is at the Jeanne B. McCoy Center for the Arts (100 E Dublin Granville Rd, New Albany, OH 43054). The list of speakers can be found here, on our website.
Parking: The McCoy Center is conveniently located directly adjacent to the campus of the New Albany School District, so there is plenty of parking around the venue. We will also have signs directing attendees to parking.
Tickets: If you purchased tickets in advance, please print your tickets off and bring them with you.
Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
When you get here: Doors open at 9:30 AM. Please come to the door with your ticket confirmation ready so we can check you in as soon as possible. We will be hosting a networking hour with refreshments and pastries from 9:30 - 10:30 am–we encourage everyone to bring some business cards to exchange! All attendees must be seated by 10:35 so we can promptly begin Session I. We will be closing registration soon after the start of Session I.
The day: You are in for a day full of education, conversation, and inspiration! Attendees will only be sitting in the auditorium for just over 3 hours. During that time, talks are ordered in such a way that attendees will be captivated and on the edge of their seats–speakers have no more than 13 minutes each to wow the crowd! We ask that all attendees stay for the entirety of the event.

Weather: For lunch, we will be moving to a different building, so please plan for the weather. As of our last check of the forecast today, it looks like it will be about 60ºF, sunny, and there’s only a 10% chance of rain. Nevertheless, please be sure to check the weather before you go!
Open seating: All seating is open and there’s not a bad seat in the house!
Cell phones: Social media is a big part of any TEDx event. Use #TEDxNewAlbany and #ThroughTheLookingGlass when sharing your posts, but please try not to post until a speaker is finished talking. Also, no video recording during talks, please. We have professional videographers recording each talk for your enjoyment later. When taking photos, please refrain from using using flash at all times.
Bring a totally open mind: Don’t come with an agenda and, in return, you will get immeasurable knowledge, inspiration and provocation. It also helps to have a willingness to sit next to, or engage in a conversation with, total strangers. TED events are about community. This is the opportunity for people from many disciplines to engage and collaborate around new ideas. Take advantage of that.
Thanks! If you have any questions, please email TEDxNewAlbany@gmail.com. See you on Saturday!
