Sandy Reed

Sandy Reed is best known locally as a school teacher. She has been teaching science for 35 years, 20 of which have been spent with New Albany Schools in Ohio where she is currently the district's STEM K-12 teacher. After graduating from The Ohio State University, she went on to earn her master degree from Ashland University.

She has received several teaching awards in her career, the latest being the Ohio Environmental Education Award for Best Practices in 2016, and before that, the National

Outstanding Green Educator Award in 2014. She is a certified National Geographic Educator, has represented the state of Ohio as a National Geographic Inquiry Ambassador and just this spring National Geographic announced her selection as a National Geographic Grosvener Fellow and will be sending her to Antarctica with other teachers and scientists as an Educator Explorer later this year.

Sandy loves the outdoors and spends her free time practicing the art of wildlife tracking. She is an instructor with Original Wisdom, a small group that seeks to inspire participants to live more deliberately with themselves, each other and the environment. She is a certified wildlife tracker in both the United States and South Africa and she travels into the African bush each summer to work on her tracking skills. Her life finds meaning and joy from those she loves...her husband Cal, and her two grown children, Andy and Jessica. Being a "Mom" remains her favorite title and greatest accomplishment.
